Laptop Support

While laptops provide flexibility they are difficult to maintain. Laptops are therefore provided with a minimal support policy of:

• Re-installation for troubled configurations.
• Minimal help for software related issues: focusing on core applications.
• Support for hardware related issues.

Please read the LaptopAgreement before you start using your PPE laptop.

If you are using your own laptop as opposed to a group laptop and have Microsoft Windows installed you must install Sophos AntiVirus, see LaptopAntiVirus.

Most PPE laptop are boot systems with both WinXP and scientific linux installed. Older laptops have SL4 and the latest dell D630 laptops have SL5 installed.
