---++ Charm Baryon Spectroscopy This page outlines the Glasgow PPE Group's research into charmed baryon measurements with the LHCb experiment. A primary goal is to observe the doubly charmed baryons Ξ+cc and Ξ++cc. Fermilab's SELEX experiment claimed an observation of these particles in 2002 yet subsequent searches by Fermilab's FOCUS experiment and the BABAR Collaboration have found no evidence of their existence. Additionally, SELEX's lifetime measurements for these particles disagree strongly with theoretical predictions. It is expected that data taken from the LHCb detector will be able to solve this discrepancy, and if the particles can be found precision measurements of their properties will be fruitful. A brief 2010 PDG review of the field may be found [[http://pdg.lbl.gov/2010/reviews/rpp2010-rev-charmed-baryons.pdf][here]] (it should be noted that the PDG classes the doubly charmed baryons as "one star", or having very little evidence for their existance. The current experimental and theoretical state of CB spectroscopy is given in more detail in ExperimentalResults. -- Main.StephenOgilvy - 2011-09-20
