CERN maintains copies of many versions of [[https://root.cern.ch][ROOT]] in [[CVMFS]].  You can get the latest version as follows:

alias setupATLAS='source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh'

Alternatively, you may be able to activate =root= within your environment by sourcing the appropriate =thisroot.sh= script, for example:
